Morning
Start the day with a visit to Avenham and Miller Parks, the finest examples of Victorian Grade II listed parklands in the North West.
With beautifully maintained green space in a chilled setting by the banks of the River Ribble, the park offers a feast of Victorian gems around every corner. From a beautiful listed fountain, overlooked by the Earl of Derby memorial statue, to Sevastopol cannons, there are plenty points of interest to treat the eye!
Before leaving, you may also want to stop by the park's Pavilion Café to take a few blissful moments out for a coffee or bite to eat.
Once done, en route back to the city centre, take the Ribblesdale Place exit to take a stroll through Winckley Square. The square is a charming green gem and one of the finest examples of Georgian squares in the North of England.
Afternoon
Pack a picnic for lunch, then head to the Guild Wheel to explore Preston's surrounding urban and rural environment. At 21 miles, with various entry and exit points, you can challenge yourself to the full circuit or jump on a section that suits you. Taking in canal sides, historic docklands, and scenic nature reserves - including Brockholes - there is something for everyone.
For those who fancy a more relaxed affair, why not take a trip to Beacon Fell Country Park to sample Preston's neighbouring rural delights by foot. Bragging 271 acres of stunning woodland - with quirky sculptures and top views over the Forest of Bowland and Morecambe bay - it makes a great place to visit for those looking for something to do outdoors.
Evening
Keep the theme of exploration trending with a choice of world restaurants and independent bars, offering something a little different from your usual restaurant set up. From tucking into some Korean cooking at Kimji to sampling some experimental cocktails in the intimate Lonely People bar next to Winckley Square, you certainly won't be stuck for choice.
